We are controlled by time.
We get up at a specific hour, not according to nature or when our body rested enough. We eat at noon, not when we’re hungry, we go to bed when we have to, not when we’re sleepy. We live by the calendar, always looking into the future. “When the summer comes, I’ll go on holiday. I’ll go to the park at the weekend.” Our friendships are defined by time as well: “I’ll call you at 6. I’ll pencil you in.” Time has absolute power and we gave it on our own accord. It didn’t steal it, it didn’t want it but now, we’re controlled by it. If we let it.
